Japan Benefit Performance 2011 by Artists Responding to Global Issues (ARGI)

When Ryan Kaplan of Small Moments Studios called me about volunteering our services for an event that would raise money for the crisis in Japan, I just had to do it. As a Japanese American, it’s been heart breaking watching the news about what has happened in Japan. Thankfully, all of my family and relatives are safe, but there are so many people suffering and I felt that this was the least I could do to help out. The event featured a wide range of great performers and it was clear everyone had a great time. I was positively moved to see all the people get together for this cause. All told, this even raised about $2,000. It was an honor to shoot it with Ryan, Keith, and Steve!

The Connecticut School of Music 10th Anniversary Concert

When Kenneth Kuo, the owner and operator of  The Connecticut School of Music contacted me regarding this project, I was pretty excited because the venue was going to be The Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center. I am an avid Jazz listener and always wanted to go there. This was my chance to not only be there, but to take photos as the hired photographer!

I have done some projects for Kenneth for the past few years, but this was by far the largest and perhaps the most meaningful one in that it commemorated 10 years worth of great work to give children the opportunity to learn and enjoy music.

As you can see, The Allen Room is an absolutely stunning venue!

The orchestra consisted mainly of students and teachers. Students from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Jazz Academy were also there to to infuse a little bit of Jazz into the day.
