Wow. Just wow. In my 35+ years in Forest Hills, I have never, ever seen anything remotely close to the devastation that swept through the neighborhood. We’ve been through very bad storms and hurricanes that broke off a few limbs or maybe even downed a tree or two, but they seem tame compared to what happened a few days ago. From what I understand tornadoes touched down in Brooklyn and Flushing, but we experienced something called a microburst with winds around 125mph! Holy smokes!!! Whatever it was, it left a trail of mess. Fortunately our house was spared. My neighbor wasn’t as lucky though. It was just a surreal scene. Here are some photos I took on my way to the train station.
